The floods that hit a number of areas in Sumatra caused more than 600,000 people to be displaced and around 147,000 homes to suffer damage, both minor and severe. This situation has limited access to basic necessities and sanitation services, so collaborative support from various parties is urgently needed to help the affected communities recover.
As a manifestation of its commitment to being a good neighbor, IKEA Indonesia has distributed household products worth more than IDR 200 million. The aid includes daily necessities such as bedding, hygiene products, and practical equipment that can help people carry out their daily activities even in emergency conditions or while living in temporary shelters.
The aid was distributed through the Indonesian Shopping Center Retailers and Tenants Association (HIPPINDO) to ensure targeted distribution, with a symbolic handover at IKEA Jakarta Garden City. IKEA Indonesia President Director Hadrianus Wahyu Trikusumo emphasized the importance of solidarity in the recovery process. Meanwhile, HIPPINDO Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah appreciated this collaboration and ensured that the aid would reach those in need. This initiative is expected to help alleviate the burden on residents during the post-disaster recovery period.
